The year is 2021 and it has been almost two years since live shows and tours have been an active thing within our communities. Rad Static and The Bark have teamed up to try our hand in finding a safe approach towards slowly and responsibly rebuilding our scene here in Tallahassee.
As The Bark has been gearing up towards introducing outdoors events, at their vegan sandwich shop and DIY punk venue, we were beyond ecstatic when we were asked to host Fat Wreck Chords’ Teenage Bottlerocket for their upcoming “Safety First, Party Second” tour.

Teenage Bottlerocket, out of Laramie, Wyoming, is a four piece punk rock band of 20 years and this tour is in support of their 8th debut album entitled “Stay Rad” which was released shortly before the pandemic came to fruition.
Recorded at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins Stay Rad! was produced and mixed by longtime collaborator Andrew Berlin and mixed by Jason Livermore. And in keeping with its title, it finds the band channeling the same riotous energy it had at the start. Its members might be older now, some married and with kids, but when it comes to writing songs together as Teenage Bottlerocket, absolutely nothing has changed. Were doing what weve always done, says Kody, which is writing fun songs and having a good time. It doesnt feel any different than it did when we started.
Like every Teenage Bottlerocket record, Stay Rad! has a good mix of the silly and the sad,
but the overriding sentiment is one that echoes its title. Its a reminder that, despite all the things
that can and often do go wrong, being alive is something that should be enjoyed and that theres always some sort of hope for the future. Life will throw its stones at you says Ray, and sometimes it’s hard to keep your head up and be yourself. I’ve always thought the most important
thing was having something to look forward to. And right now, Im looking forward to this record
coming out and playing some shows and playing these songs live. That’s always the important thing the next thing on the horizon.
I think they’re going to love this record. I hope that everybody gives it a chance.

MakeWar, out of Brooklyn, New York, is the support for this tour, as well. After being around for only 5 years, MW has worked alongside many awesome producers and bands, including Brett Romnes of I Am The Avalanche. Coming in hot off their 2019 release of a new album entitled “Get it Together”. I have been nothing but stoked about the material these guys have been putting out. Let’s just state this: Furious, Multicultural, packed with revolutionaries, friends to those in cages and behind the walls, lovers and repurposers of classic art and style, from punk to emo. These guys may not be the ones to personally usher in a revolution but they damn well should be the soundtrack to it all.
